As of January 1, 2018, the Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption (SCAFHE) QUALIICATIONS HAVE CHANGES. The total household income eligibility will increase from $55,000 to $65,000. Since this exemption is income based, please wait until you have filed your income taxes so that we can use them to determine eligibility. The other requirements for the SCAFHE include that you will be 65 or older during 2018 and that on January 1, 2017 and January 1, 2018 you used the property as your principal place of residence. You will need to complete your exemption paperwork before May 1, 2018. If you have further questions about what is considered household income, please call our office at 664-2848 (M-F, 8am-4pm).
As of January 1, 2018, anyone who has applied and qualified for the Senior Citizens Homestead Exemption in the past, will no longer e required to annually verify eligibility status. If you sell, move, or no longer occupy your home, please notify our office at 664-2848 (M-F, 8am-4pm).
